Banh Mi Saigon Cafe

Special Banh Mi (Deluxe)

Another quickie, I really love having the Special or Deluxe Banh Mi anywhere. This French/Vietnamese sandwich is pretty amazing. The twist gives it a unique flavor that you can't get anywhere else. It's sweet, savory, fresh and just oh so good. The flavors mixes so well that I keep coming back for more. It's super cheap ($3) for one and you can also find deals, like buy 2 get 1 free or other deals at different Banh Mi cafes. This sandwich is so fresh and simple you can even make them at home!

^_^ Yummy!

P.S. They also serve bubble tea and little snack/treats. It's a very ordinary Vietnamese cafe what sits in a plaza with other Vietnamese stores. I would have to warn you that there are days that they close without any reasoning (which frustrates me) so I advise you to call ahead.

Panda Express

Orange Chicken & Kung Pao Chicken
Quick and simple post. I don't really like take out Chinese or fast food Chinese food, but I ended up at Panda Express anyways (my 2nd time in my life). The food is still super coated in syrup and isn't the normal, typical Chinese food I eat at home. I would have to say it was good, satisfied my Fast Food Chinese side and I probably wont eat this till next year, hahah! I've had better Take out Chinese but this place is just so cute with their festive Panda dressed up stickers everywhere.

Out and about

This post isn't about me going out to eat but actually buying some items from the grocery store and trying it at home. Now this may be "normal" to you but it isn't so much ---> what I'm talking about is frozen pre-cooked food. I normally have food served fresh, made at home and such but I never really eat frozen food you buy at your grocery's store freezer. I decided to try those Healthy Steamer meals. It was my first time buying such things so it took me about 10-15 minutes to decide what kind of meal I would like. There's a large variety and it was just so hard because I am very indecisive with things. I ended up with a Roasted Beef Merlot and some Mediterranean dish (something which chicken, lemon, pasta and shrimp?)

sauce is located on the bottom
I find these little steamer to be really cool but I honestly don't love them at all. They are cheap but the portions is so tiny for me or I'm just a fatty.. The flavors are "alright" and they are proud that they don't use any preservatives which is great. These little steamers are really easy to heat up, just take them out of the box and pop them into the microwave for 4-5 minutes, take them out and combine with the sauce under the strainer and tadah! Done!

If I had to rate this I would give is a 3.5 stars out of 5. The flavor isn't amazing but I think it's very good if you're use to all those frozen food. It taste much healthier then the normal fattening frozen food available. The price is a bit pricier but it's not an "Omgah it's impossible".

Mediterranean Dish

Another thing that I got from the store was this new Garden Tomato and Basil Lays chips. I'm not really a chip person but I thought it would be nice to try something new. I actually thought these were pretty good. It was really addicting and the only way I can describe the taste is pretty much a "fancier" version of dipping your regular Lays chips into ketchup. Of course, the Tomato and Basil chips gave off a more clean tomato taste, but it's similar to the ketchup dipping. I actually don't know what happened to the rest of the bag, possible my brother attacked it.

Mushrooms - iCook

The simplest yet tastiest dish I usually make to snack on or eat with rice would be sautéed mushrooms. A lil bit of oil, salt and pepper goes a long way plus the natural flavor the mushroom has is amazing! These little fellows have such a dark and deep flavor you can't get anywhere else :D!

simple yet delicious

The Art of Food

Ta dah! I'm back with a few random things to post about. I really haven't had time to please my taste bud, but thanks to my wonderful friend Gabby, I was able to chill with her and went out on an adventurous night. She started throwing ideas at me since she was looking through Creative Loafing magazine which always consist of amazing things to do in the Tampa Bay area.

We started the night with "The Art of Welcoming" which was a really cool art show consisting of local artist and it was also catered by Taco Bus (yum)! The really cool part is that it was held in a converted slaughter house, doesn't the idea of being in an old slaughter house gives you the chills? When I first heard about it I really was interested, but all I could think about was "This is just like a horror film setting". I really loved what I saw and if I had the money I would love to purchase some artwork but sadly I'm a poor college kid.

Tostada w/pork

What got me really excited was I actually got to try a little bit of the oh so famous Taco Bus. I never had the chance to hit the place up since I'm always going to Tampa on a mission or something like that. It's a 24/7 "bus" that serves authentic Mexican food and no worries guys the Taco Bus doesn't actually move and they are also opening their second location in St. Petersburg soon! Mmmm can I tell you that this stuff is like crack? I had a little taste of what they were serving  at "The Art of Welcoming" and I wanted more! It was a tease that I couldn't satisfy so I hope that one day I would be able to go to the actual bus and feast on whatever they toss at me!

The Tostada that I got at the art show was such a tease! The ingredients were really fresh, I got a pork filling which was nicely seasoned and it wasn't too salty nor too bland! The squeeze of lime made it all become one ^_^. Ahhh I'm telling you guys it's a must try! Gabby whom is half Mexican (wink) also thinks this place is the F**kin bomb!

Phewww the night didn't end here! After the horrible tease Taco Bus gave me I was almost tempted to drive all the way to Tampa to get some but instead we stopped by Salem's for some food since Gabby and I have never been to one. I would have to say not bad! The nice lady who helped us was hilarious and super nice. We both ordered a Gyro and I also got wings and Gabby got some hot fries! The fries were really good they weren't too thin nor too thick and super hot! The buffalo wings on the other hand, wasn't just ehh. Wasn't horrible yet wasn't delicious. The chicken was cooked very nicely but the sauce was a little off even when I dunk it in ranch. Hmmm, the gyro was good, possibly not the best but its pretty good when you're hungry! I really do thing Salem's is a nice place to go to instead of let's say Mc Donalds or Checkers. It's a change if you're one of those people whom eat fast food on a day to day basis. I also want to add in that we shared a Mango milkshake, it was pretty good as a milkshake but somehow only Steak n' Shake milkshake makes me my taste buds go crazy!

Woo! Not done yet, we have one last stop for tonight.

Our last and very random stop was Cafe Bohemia in St. Petersburg. This place is a place I wish was near me. It's really comfy with artworks on the wall, a very indie style lounge plus some good coffee/tea. I would love to come here just to chill, do some homework or even to have a place to have talks with friends. I also want to add that I love their outside dining/seating area, they also project movies on the wall which is another reason to check them out! They have a large menu which I wished I had seen before I ordered (I just picked someone off their cute chalkboard thing) but it's okay. Gabby made some tea (vanilla nut, which smelt amazing) and I got myself a tiny mocha latte. Ahhh I love cafes!

^_^ All these places I visited is something I would recommend others to try. I had a really fun night, especially with my favorite girl Gabby and our silly adventures.
