My apologies to my readers, I know it's been way too long and I haven't updated so here I am giving you some of the latest foodie adventures I've been on. I had recently moved back home so I have a bit more change ($) and time to adventure out in the foodie world again. I'll start with this new restaurant called Sate Southeast Asian Grill near my university (USF). I saw that this was under the new businesses that opened section under Yelp and decided to give it a try.
I wasn't expecting it to be an Chipotle style Asian fusion set up but I think it's pretty neat. I've had sushi down in St. Pete (Rollbotto Sushi) Chipotle style and loved the idea so I am easily amused when similar restaurants like this pop up.
Let's talk about the interior first, it's clean and there's plenty of seats which is always a plus! You first walk in through the door and is guided straight to the display of food. You're able to see visibly see all the sides and you're able to pick according to your preference. I like this because it helps me see which is fresh and what is not. This place brings in a very Asian (Chinese) restaurant feel but still brings a modern twist with Americanized tables and chairs.
There are many base dish choices from rice bowls, noodles, banh mi and salads. I ended up with the noodle bowl with chicken skewers covered in peanut sauce. The young gentlemen that was helping us was super adorable because he was working so hard to sell us each side. I let him pick out the combination of sides for me since I trusted his opinion. There were different sides from pickled carrots and radish to kimchi bean sprouts and so on.
I also tried their spring rolls and soup but to be honest I wasn't a big fan of it. Stick with the main entree and I believe you'll be satisfied. They also offer discounts for USF students which is another plus!
