I love this spicy garlicky butter sauce! It isn’t my recipe but after many years making Viet Cajun seafood I’ve adjusted it from watching diff videos to how I like it.

(In this vid I made 15-20lbs of seafood)

Seasoning mixture

1tbs each
Old bay
Cajun seasoning
Lemon Pepper
Garlic powder
Onion powder
Cayenne powder

1/2 tbs each
Paprika powder
Ginger powder
Sugar

(This should leave you extra to save)

I personally use Amish butter because it was a higher dairy fat content and it taste better, but you can use any butter you want. You could also use half butter and oil. But that is now your recipe 😆

Melt butter on medium-low (2 sticks)
Add chopped garlic (1/2 cup or however much your heart desires but sometimes too much is not a good thing)
Cook it for 3-5 mins
Make sure your heat is on low when you add spices so it does not burn.
Start with a couple tbs at a time and cook jt for 2-3 mins. (If it turns out to be too salty add more butter)
Add Crystal hot sauce or any other hot sauce to make it spicy (optional)
Add 1/2 cup Coco Rico (if you are not using any, change the 1/2 tbs sugar to 1 tbs)

Taste and adjust but be careful it will be hot. I will put a little bit of the cooked garlic butter sauce to the side and let it cool down before I taste it.

Whenever I season the water to cook seafood I use fresh oranges instead of orange juice.

The water is a free for all for me. I just throw it all in.
Onion, garlic, old bay, Cajun powder, crab boil seasoning packs, oranges, lemons.

Once the seasoned water comes to a boil, add your crawfish and let it come back to a boil. Turn off the heat and add your frozen shrimp/crab legs etc. If you not adding any, dump in ice. Cover it and let the seafood soak for 20 plus mins. It’s always turned out perfect for me.

- I also roast and grill the potatoes and sausages instead of boiling it because I like the crisp. I also cook my corn separately because I like them plump!

I always throw a big yearly seafood boil and this year I decided to do a “DIY” Seafood Boil Bar. It was a blast and everyone could customize their bag!

I made a Vietnamese Cajun Garlic butter sauce with Coco Rico, Lemon Pepper Garlic butter and Jeow Som.

The combo box was such a deal! You get so much from a side of japchae, kimbap, tempura, eggroll and kimchi.

The kimbap isn’t the cheapest but they were really big bites. The bulgogi was a little on the dryer side so I’d get a diff protein next time.

You can grab hot water for your instant noodles and buy kimchi from the fridges and live your own kdrama life.

Cute little Japanese cafe just opened in downtown

Cute little Japanese cafe just opened in downtown St. Pete with a few quick bites. They have freshly made Sando and Onigiri as well as drinks and ice cream.

They currently have a small menu and will hopefully expand in the future.

• Fruit Sando - 6.5/10 for me personally I did not care for how thick and cakey their bread is. I love the way it looks but it’s a lot of bread for me 😂 my husband does enjoy this and he’s more of the sweets person. The fruit is fresh and the cream is lightly sweet which is nice! If the milk bread was softer and lighter I would have enjoyed it more.
• Smoked Salmon - 7/10 this was really interesting because it’s a Japanese treat but with an American twist. It tasted like a smoked salmon bagel so if that’s what you are looking for this is for you. I didn’t hate it but it is not the Onigiri flavor I seek out. They only have two options so it’s very limited atm.
• Tiger Avocado Toast - 6.5/10 again I find the bread to be too much for me but it taste like any other avocado toast. The chili crisp was a nice touch and I preferred the bites with it because there’s not much flavor otherwise.
• Cold Sesame Udon - 5.5/10 I didn’t have much reaction to this. I think if you were to get some chili crisp on it, it would definitely enhance the dish. It’s creamy but it’s not something I’d order again for myself.
• Hokkaido Milk Tea - 2/10 (not pictured) the flavor of the boba was nice but the tea itself tasted watered down and wasn’t rich in milk tea flavor

There’s not anything like this in Downtown St. Pete, it’s a cute place to grab a bite but it is a bit overpriced. The smoked salmon onigiri is $7. DM me if you’re looking for where I go for onigiri in Tampa Bay!

Flashy & Saucy Sushi rolls to impress the table! When the torch comes out to play, we are all going to be amazed.

Akasaka Sushu invited me out to try their food and here’s everything I ate. I will be honest because I’ve always been pretty honest on all my experiences.

I love the interior and their plating choices. The food is flashy which is great to impress a date or your friends.

** I will have to say that if I were able to pick my dishes instead I would have had a better experience, since I know what my preferences are. These are the dishes that were brought out to me to try.

• Drinks (we picked) were great! Akasaka Old Fashion & Hakusan’s Not So Bubbly
• Steamed Gyoza & Shrimp Sumai - 2/10 they were just mushy to me
• Shrimp Tempura - 6/10 loved the display with the soba fan, tempura is okay but the shrimp was too battered.
• Korean Fried Chicken - 6/10 super saucy and sweet. It wasn’t bad at all but I wouldn’t come here for kfc when there’s other places that specializes it.
• We tried three rolls (Irenko, Flaming K & Championship) - 5/10 I am not a fan of saucy rolls or any roll with cream cheese so it was tough for me to enjoy these. They had so many different components to them but they tasted mild and it all ended tasting the same.
• NY Strip Steak - 4/10 this was def overcooked for me to personally enjoy I did really like the broccoli 😂
• Spicy Seafood Jjambbong - 6.5/10 this came with udon but the broth was flavorful and they had a decent amount of seafood
• Green Tea Cheesecake - 2/10 tbh the chocolate syrup ruined it for me but the cheesecake wasn’t strong in green tea flavor either.

I def would have appreciated if I could try their actual fish to see the quality of the sushi but it’s still a nice place to have dinner at. Reminder that this is all to my own preferences and everyone has their own preference.

This is probably my favorite quesabirria tacos I’ve had so far. I am so glad I visited again because it was even better this time than the last.

There’s 2 locations in Tampa, this one was the one off Memorial HWY (store front).

• I enjoyed the Quesabirria Tacos last time but the consommé could have been thicker. They definitely did something right this time. The exterior was crispy and there’s even more meat filling. The consommé was rich and full of flavor. I liked it so much I had to drink it all.

• The Carne Asada Nachos were really good too, super loaded and they used my favorite type of chips! The thick sturdy crunchy fried tortillas that can hold a lot without crumbling between your fingers. I wished I had guacamole on top though, it said there was supposed to be some but I’m not sure what happened.

• my husband keeps getting the Cali Burrito every time and I am not the biggest fan. It was missing the sour cream and guac because the only thing inside was protein and fries. There wasn’t much going on there.

I will definitely be back for the quesabirria tacos and nachos! I’ll have to try other items too.
